Why does Sleeping Beauty from Shrek the Third have brown hair?
Sleeping Beauty, the actual princess, has long blonde hair…. why in Shrek the Third does she have brown hair?

Sleeping Beauty wasn’t invented by Walt Disney, so you shouldn’t regard that version as the "official" version.

I don’t think the original story mentions hair colour at all.

I think they probably wanted to reduce the number of blondes though, they already had Cinderella and Rapunzel, and having a third would be overdose.

I don’t understand…Sleeping Beauty the "actual" princess. Like in real life? or in another story? or in the Disney movies? Aside from Snow White, I can’t think of any fairy tale princesses who have a physical description carved in stone. Why shouldn’t Sleeping Beauty be a brunette?

I'm going to a Bon Jovi concert this March. Can someone clear some things up?
Alright, I’m new to the concert scene, especially 80’s-00’s bands. I know how a concert works, and all, but could someone clear this up for me.

Bon Jovi is on their Circle tour, and there are about 10 or 12 songs on that album. They’ll be playing them for sure, but will they also play some of their classics, such as Runaway, Wanted Dead or Alive, and It’s My Life? Concerts for bands with fan bases as large as Bon Jovi’s usually are around 3-4 hours, so I’m assuming yes.

Also, don’t tell me that Bon Jovi sucks. I would rather be at a Rush or AC/DC concert, too, but I like Bon Jovi very much.

I know too that Bon Jovi’s audience isn’t very.. ‘rebellious’? Atleast not like Metallica or Iron Maiden, but what should I be alert for? Pot, con-artists, etc..

This probably sounds so naive to all of you, but this would help.

Mhm, I don’t think it’s gonna be 3-4 hours.
2-3 is more likely, and there’ll be lots of the hits for all the casual fans (this tends to be true of all older bands that still play today…)

And no, I doubt they’ll be rebellious. Don’t worry about con artists unless you’re trying to buy tickets from them, and I really wouldn’t recommend it; just buy them online beforehand.
Pot’s at lots of concerts. No biggie, IMO. Nobody’ll force you to smoke it (though if you WANT to smoke some, somebody’ll probably pass it ’round. Still, it’s Bon Jovi, so..I’d think lots of fans aren’t so much the type?)
Smile [dead or alive] | Feb 03, 2010

Bon Jovi crowd will be fine … mostly older folks. There will probably be some pot smoking but you have that pretty much any concert. Many people will be drunk and some will act like fools but they are essentially harmless.

They probably won’t play ALL the songs off the new album but probably more like 5-6. Most of the show will be material off other albums. And I agree with the other poster, no way will the show be 3-4 hours long. Maybe if you count the opening act, but Bon Jovi will probably perform 2, 2.5 hours, max. Even Bruce Springsteen doesn’t play 3 hours these days.

If you’re really interested in what songs they will play, maybe go to Bon Jovi’s official web site or a fan site, often times they will post set lists from other shows on the tour. It may not be exact but it will give you an idea of what songs they have rehearsed and are playing on the tour.
Hello Friend | Feb 03, 2010

Been Jovi’s crowd show be fine, no rough stuff I’ve been to a couple 80’s glam concerts. I’ve seen poison, cinderella, quite riot… More then likely someone will have pot in there I think its a given at any show nowadays. I’m going to guess show will be two hours long depending on the local noise ordnance’s. Sometimes cities can be strict about that even if its an indoor. I will say they will do a couple songs of the new album plus 95% of their classics. Usually when a tour is called the same name as the album don’t mean they are playing the whole album its just the album they are supporting at the moment. Other than that not much else to worry about.

Do any of you suffer from panic attacks?
I know this isn’t much of a question, but If you read on, I feel I might be able to give you some tips to put an end to those pesky bouts of panic!

First and foremost, I once suffered from panic attacks, but I have since figured out how to erase them from my life for good! My first panic attack was almost exactly one year ago, in October. I was visiting my dad and my step family in Nebraska, and began smoking marijuana with my step brothers. It was all good fun until around the fifth or sixth time I participated in it! I remember smoking a rather large amount of high quality stuff, around ten or twelve hits (my tolerance is rather low…). I felt fine for a while, but once it all started creeping in something felt very wrong! I was sitting at my computer, playing World Of Warcraft, when all of a sudden, my vision began to distort, and I had trouble focusing on much of anything, both mentally and optically.

I turned to my brother, and told him that something was wrong. He just told me to calm down, and that if anything was wrong with the weed, he would know it. I stood from my chair, and I got this horrible sinking feeling in my stomach, almost exactly like going downhill on a rollercoaster! My heart started beating really fast, and I could feel throughout most of my body. I went and laid down on the couch, almost POSITIVE I was dying, and just laid there for hours until I eventually fell asleep. During the time, I was experiencing all sorts of symptoms. My jaw and lips felt extremely numb, I was in a cold sweat, my hands and feet were freezing cold, and my mind was racing horribly! It was terrifying!

I awoke the next morning feeling just fine, and I brushed it off and continued smoking for a while. It happened once more and I finally decided to research it, to find that what I was having were called "Panic Attacks". After reading that they could not hurt you, I decided to try again. Unfortunately, it happened once more, and I decided not to smoke pot anymore. After a while of not smoking, I developed obsessive worries, specifically about my heart. (I.E. Racing heart) I even began having the panic attacks when I was completely sober! Do I blame marijuana for it? Not exactly. I believe that experiencing my first panic attack started a nasty chain of anxiety for me.

To put it shortly, after I was back home in Texas for a while, I finally figured out how to stop the attacks. Basically, you have to trick your brain into thinking they are a positive thing. I know it sounds odd, but I’ve been panic free for a while now by doing this! When you feel an attack coming on, just lay back, and enjoy the ride. It is, after all, the same thing that happens when you are on a rollercoaster! The only difference is what you are THINKING! The trick is to change those scary thoughts into excited, and positive ones. By doing this, you are keeping yourself from feeding energy to the fear, and the Panic Attack will cease. I promise!

Picture this. Your panic attacks are a huge brick wall, and on the other side of this wall, there is a wonderful place that you would love to be in. Now, experiencing a panic attack is when you try to climb over the wall, and since you always back down from it, instead of successfully scaling it, you are trapped on the bad side of it. But if you force yourself to climb this wall (face your panic attacks with all of your will) you will finally reach the other side! And once you are over the wall, you now know that it’s not as bad as you thought it was, and the wall no longer scares you. Now that you are over the wall, you can keep on moving forward, and scale any other walls that might be in your way without any problems! I hope that helps!

There’s one more thing I want to discuss here:
Benzodiazepines.
Klonipin, Xanax, Ativan, all fall under this class of drug.

I want to encourage all of you to stay AWAY from these drugs. They are HIGHLY addictive, both mentally and physically, and once you gain a physical dependence to them, you have to ween off VERY SLOWLY. Not to mention, they will stop working once this happens.

Suddenly stopping, or rapidly weening off can cause unbearable withdrawals, and it can even KILL you! I’ve personally known someone who did this, and they ended up having seizures and had to remain taking the medication. The overall withdrawals can be worse than even HEROIN, so I would highly recommend staying away from these drugs! If you must, take them for no more than two weeks, and if it MUST be longer, space out your dosages. Try to only take it every three days, so that you don’t become dependent. I can’t stress this enough, as Benzodiazepine dependency occurs VERY RAPIDLY.

And besides, the medication won’t actually help to get rid of anxiety, it just makes it go away for a while. But until you "train your brain" to not create the anxiety and panic, it will always return with a vengeance!

There is a certain herb that you could try. I myself, have used

ok, it has potential, but if im speaking honestly, the direction the song is taking is not entirely clear…for instance in the chorus you say "they wont judge you" and then in verse 2, they will in the future…secondly, it seems like ur trying to make her feel ok about letting you go, but then you do mention tears…seems like a mixed message…and lastly, try to refrain from being so vague and repetitive by using you and me and people…try to be a lil more profound…"The whole world won’t judge you" there ur implying some might, but the whole world wont…if that’s what ur getting at…a title would help to convey what the point of the song is and bring it all together as well…

Good luck!!

How do you deal with family ? While submersed in debt with them and try to deal with their emotional drama?
Living with the relative but also dealing not only with their family emotional roller coaster but also facing the real world to deal with your debt in this tough economy. What’s’s the best thing to do to ignore the emotional drama with relatives while living in the same roof. Any suggestions anyone…….?? Feel trapped

To be honest, families can poison themselves with drama. Try to be out of the house as much as possible, or sleeping if you can. Walk, go to the library, hang out with friends, volunteer, anything. If you are exhausted from work, have gone through the options I’ve listed, and feel like you have to stay home, try to create your own space in the house that people know is yours. Be it the bedroom you have, or a small room in the house that no one really uses, make it your own. Get some headphones and listen to music and read, or listen to educational tracks to learn a new language or skill that will help you get ahead at work and get a little pay raise.

If none of this works, and you can’t live with the drama, you owe it to yourself to find another place to live. If you can’t afford it, and none of your friends will take you in, look for government subsidized housing in your area for low income earners. Good luck!

How are piercing tapers measured?
I’m stretching my ears, and I should have a 6gauge or 8 gauge in (I can’t remember which) but they look tiny. I’ve just brought some more tapers all the way down to 0gauge, which should be 8mm, but it looks so tiny. Do they always look small, or have I been buying dodgey jewelery?
So how are they measured?

boys 500 yard freestyle.?
Ok i am a sophmore in highschool boys swimming in New York State.
On december 22nd i swam a 5:23 in the 500freestyle. I have my championship meet on February 10th. I am looking for breaking 5:10. but i can’t figure out of that is a reasonable goal. I have been swimming around 5:30 at each meet that i don’t set a best time in. In practice i hold around 5:41-5:49 in a set of 9×500s on 6 minutes.

Im thinking that the reason i havn’t broken my best time in a while is because i havn’t gotten very pumped up for any meets. The only question i have is if im pumped is it possible to break 5:10 even though i go a 5:23?

Thanks guys! :D

its not an urreasonable goal… if u really put your mind to it you can do it if really wanna think about it you just need to go 1.3 seconds faster in each 50 in your 500 free… you can do it… just practice preactice practice…… if u really want this you can come get it. youll do it
Matt | Jan 30, 2010

Well a five hundred is a nice event to drop in because it is longer so you have room to improve..unlike 50’s and 100’s. You are basically going to have to go out in under a 1:00 and hold at 1:03 for next three 100’s and come back in like 1:00 …this all depends on your training..and taper..

I hate distance haha..but my club team does this awesome set ..its called the hundred set

it is 4 times through (4 x 1:00) on the best time you can hold …meaning you try to repeat on like… in your case 58 or 59 …you literally touch the wall look at the clock and push off again. You can add a 100 the next time you do the set so it will be 5×100 and then keep adding till 8×100…
& between rounds you get a 200 easy ..IM or choice…its super hard i personally hate this set haha but then again i’m a breaststroke and IMer and hate freestyle so thats probably why haha

your goal of breaking a 5:10 will be do-able if you have been training properly this season .. i have friends that drop that much time … they are beasts haha ..good luck i hope you get your goal time or close to it!! good luck & swim fast:) you might relax before a race or get pumped up it really depends on what works for you….use your unimportant meets to experiment..
Aileen | Jan 31, 2010

If you can do 9 X 500/6 and hold 5:41+, you’ll be able to go 5:10. However, the advice from Aileen couldn’t be more wrong.

In any race of 100 yds or longer, the race should be even or negative split. How many times have you watched a swimmer finish a 100 or longer and another swimmer who was just hanging back passed the leader to win over the last 10 yards of the race (Just ask Michael Cavic and Michael Phelps from the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the World Champs from Rome in 2009 for the 100 fly race)? Consider how people lose stroke length and power on the last 10 to 15 yds of such races.

Well, the reason is that when you swim in a high school or college race, you NEVER run out of energy to swim. Instead, when you go too fast at the beginning, you build up acidic waste products that interfere with the enzymes (go ask your biology teacher about homeostasis, pH and enzymes) and you lose strength.

So, what I tell my swimmers is that you should never be going faster in race than you can hold for the remainder of the race. Clearly, you cannot sprint a 500. Thus, based on the first sentence of this paragraph, as the race gets shorter you should be going faster and faster and faster and faster as you go. Therefore, the second half of your race is going to be faster than the first half. Your last 100 and 50 should be the fastest.

So, instead of going out under a minute as was suggested by another reply, your first 100 should be the slowest … about 1:03.0 … then, 1:02, then a 1:01.5, a 1:01 and a 1:00.5. If you did that, you’d do a 5:08.0. BUT … you’ll find that when you start your race you FEEL GREAT! You feel great because you don’t have those waste products in your muscles. So, you must make an extra effort to go extra slow … then, slowly speed up.
academicjoq | Jan 31, 2010

well 500 is pretty much all planning and endurance ability. Our best on the varsity teams is a 5:06. My advise is take 1 day, and change up ure routine in it. try goin faster early, pace ure self 4 a 25 or a 50 then speed up.
keep up the good work
XeroDaSparx | Jan 31, 2010

Do you have access to your splits of your earlier races? That will tell you if you have a tendency to go sleep in the middle of your race. What kind of drop-off do you typically have between your first and second 100? Difference between slowest and fastest 100? Strive to have all your 100 splits within 2.0 seconds of each other — 1.5 seconds is even better.

It looks like you have a solid base for endurance. Make sure you are working on perfecting your stroke, because what you need at this point is speed. I’m not saying that you need to go out in a :55 — but you’re going to need to get comfortable doing 1:03 repeats rather than 1:05s ( your best time), 1:06s (your latest times) or 1:09s (during workouts).

I also think an easy way to pick up about 5 seconds in a 500 is through turns. Think of your turns as 19 chances to speed up throughout the race.

can someone please explain to me what happens near the end of the dilm 'straightheads'?
i keep reading reviews and all it up saying is that they go to seek revenge (obviously not giving away the ending, too right) but i heard there’s a plot twist, and i want to know what it is. I watched half the film and got tired and went to sleep.

Did they kill them all?
Why did they get attacked?
etc

Cheers everyone

firstly they got attacked because they were driving alongside them and boyfriend yelled abuse at them. The couple then knocked down a deer, he got out of car to finish it off, but didn’t then they got attacked.
She ended up getting revenge and raped the bloke who raped her with a shotgun up his arse. while boyfriend held him down. His mates came visiting, and boyfriend blasted old guy with said shotgun, the other guy ran off and boyfriend ran after him and shot him and bludgeoned him to death with shotgun butt. Well that is what I remember, very good film eh? shame ya fell asleep, hope it helps yer, luv, sue xxxxxxxxxxxx
